Album “Vaklush”

Album "Backlash", cover
The extraordinary story of Vaklush Tolev is told with photographs, text and calligraphy on 376 pages. The album is a continuation of the documentary film “Vaklush” directed by Nikolay Vassilev, using materials that remain out of frame – hundreds of hours of conversations and interviews that took place between 1989 and 2013.

In the Album are published photographs from the archive of Vaklush Tolev, as well as images from his meetings with dozens of notable figures from Bulgaria and abroad.

This book goes beyond a simple biography and unfolds as a journey through the visions of the Third Millennium of a Teacher for whom “the Spirit is more real than all realities.”

Dedication

My days are rich with sorrow’s claim,
while youth fades somewhere, void of sun.
Exiled, Hope and Love in weariness stray
along the winding path of each new day.
And often I ask – can it ever be
that my faithful spirit will find its way free?
Is it suffering, O God, that grants me sight
and marks each crossroad with its guiding light?

Then let my gravestone,
where the traveller may pause to read,
be left unmarked — for flame and spirit
were my path, and all I came to be.
