The Spiritual Gifts of Bulgaria, Volume II
It is not facts that create history – the Spirit forges it!
– Vaklush Tolev
The second volume of “The Spiritual Gifts of Bulgaria” – “Historicism in the Bulgarian Lands” – is more of a spiritual than a historical work, even though it is dedicated to key historical events in our lands:
The historical role of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, the Awakening Movement, the Third of March, the Unification, the Independence, the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture, the Day and Sanctuary-Home of the 13 Named Immortal Bulgarians, and Wisdom – A New Culture. This volume is a doctrine of the Teaching of the Way of Wisdom, presenting the manifestations of the Bulgarian national spirit in the evolutionary impulses of our people.
“Our nation,” says Vaklush Tolev, “must come to fulfillment, for it is marked at its core to make a contribution – not merely continental…”
The Spiritual Gifts of Bulgaria is a chronicle of the spiritual visage of Bulgaria. That is why the unifying theme of the two volumes is:
“History is not a string of facts – it is the providence of Spirit!”
This edition is funded by the Ministry of Culture.
Annotation
The Spiritual Gifts of Bulgaria is a chronicle of the spiritual visage of our country. In Volume 1: Religions in the Bulgarian Lands, we show what has visited this blessed land—what kind of sacred table has nourished the spiritual needs of those who settled here. And Volume 2: Historicism in the Bulgarian Lands offers a new perspective on the phenomena that the Bulgarian people have realized in their inner prayer and manifest destiny.
The Spiritual Gifts of Bulgaria is auric essence in contrast to social passion!
The auric essence—that is, the spirituality of a people—is in conflict with sociality, which creates stress in the earthly condition of the human being. This social stress is an illusion, yet it legitimizes falsehoods along the path of social development.
Humanity is divided, even though—throughout history—it has at times professed dualism, with gods of good and evil. Yet even this dualism flows into monotheism through the idea that the reign of the god of evil is limited. Thus, we shall be free of this god—just as the Teaching of the Way of Wisdom says: “There is no evil, there is unevolved good!”
